About me

re: photography…

I first picked up a camera 2,200 miles from my home state of Ohio and could not put it down. It was the calming solution to my anxiety, before I found a deeper connection to photography and miscellaneous subjects. I’ve gone through many cameras, shoot locations, studied under prestigious photographers, and have walked away with the ability to manage light, creativity and the ability to engage with any subject, including still life. Whatever or whomever is within range, each frame deserves understanding, patience and attention. Most of the work on this website was shot on film. Publications and awards include American Photo Magazine, Alternative Press Magazine, Mamiya Award of Excellence from Hallmark Institute of Photography, fictional book cover photos, and fictional author jacket photos.

re: family

My extended family is so large, we have an excel spreadsheet to keep track of everyone. Anna and I have two children together - Lucy and Everest. You’ll find a few photos of them in the family tab; they are everything to me.

re: studies

Hallmark Institute of Photography, The Ohio State University (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration) and University of Southern California (Master of Science in Applied Psychology).

re: factoids

I enjoy math, particularly geometry. I try and incorporate some level of shape and calculation into many of my photographs. Orange is my favorite color. The longest flight I’ve been on was 10 hours. I don’t enjoy concerts because I prefer listening to music alone.
